Anegenge, early Middle High German work of poetry (3,242 lines of 
rhyming couplets), author unknown, written around 1173, survives only 
in the Wiener Sammelhandschrift 2696 ( Manuscript ). Theological 
reflections on the Creation and Salvation (Middle High German 
"anegenge" = beginning) following the scholastic tradition with the 
goal of instructing an audience that was uneducated in theology on the 
topic of the history of the Salvation.
