Antonius von Padua, Heiliger#
b. Lisbon (Portugal), 1195, d. June 13, 1231 near Padua (Italy), Franciscan monk, theologian and preacher, 1946 made Doctor evangelicus; depicted with the baby Jesus, a book and a lily; patron of the travellers, lovers and married couples; invoked for the return of lost property. In Austria his cultus began in the 17th century and there are many centres of worship (esp. in the Tyrol), the most significant of which is the Minoritenkirche church in Vienna with more than 100 marble votive reliefs.
