!!!Augustin, Vinzenz Freiherr von

b. Pest (Hungary), March 27, 1780, 
d. Vienna, March 6, 1859, cartographer and general; father of Baron 
Ferdinand von  Augustin. Drew up a plan for the mapping and 
triangulation of the  Franzian Cartographical Register, wrote the 
textbook "Elementary Geometry" and constructed several geodetic 
instruments. Set up the "rocket corps", which he commanded until 1838; 
supervised the construction of the Vienna  Arsenal.
