!!!Bevölkerung

Population, the total number of people permanently living in Austria.
The population figure is determined by a census held every 10 years
(last one: May 15, 1991). In the years between the census, the figures
are extrapolated taking into account births and deaths as well as
immigration and emigration rates. According to the census of 1991,
Austria has a population of 7,795,786 people. Population development
is characterised by moderate long-term growth. The recognised national
minorities are also part of the Austrian population (Croats, Slovenes,
Czechs, Slovaks, Hungarians, Roma, Sinti) as are the approx. 562,000
foreign nationals (7.2% of the resident population). Population rates
are measured taking into account demographic features ( Age Structure,
Civil Status, sex ratio) and social aspects ( Employment Structure,
Employment Rate).
