Lisbon (Portugal), May 13, 1963 (accident), art historian. 1921-1924 entrusted with the reorganization of the Austrian museums; following negotiations with the successor states of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy he made it possible for Austria to keep Austro-Hungarian museum pieces. 1939 emigrated to England where he lived until 1946; director of the picture gallery in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
