!!!Christophorus, Heiliger

Christophorus (St. Christopher), feast on July 25, historical figure.
Legend has it that this pagan figure of allegedly gigantic stature was
baptized while guiding pilgrims across a river and carrying the child
Jesus on his shoulders. St. Christopher was often depicted on
façades of houses or churches so that the child Jesus could
easily be seen even from some distance. Patron of boatmen, ferrymen,
car drivers, against unexpected death.
