Cobra (task force of the rural police), special anti-terrorist unit,
emerged from the traffic department of the Lower Austrian rural police
headquarters in the 1970s (protection of emigrants from the USSR on
their march via Marchegg to Vienna). A separate office was set up in
Bad Voeslau on April 30, 1973 (officially opened on January 1, 1978).
