Czernin, Johann Rudolf, Graf von und zu Chudenitz#
b. Vienna, June 9, 1757, d. Vienna, April 23, 1845, civil servant. President of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna 1823-1827. In his office as Imperial treasurer (from 1824) was responsible for the collections of the Court and for the Burgtheater, which was at the peak of its popularity. His collection of paintings (begun after 1800) together with the collections of engravings on copper became the basis for the Czernin Art Collection. The remains of this important private collection have been loaned to the Residenz-Galerie in Salzburg.
