Degn, Johann B., b. St. Georgen im Attergau (Upper Austria), Nov. 14, 1848, d. Salzburg, June 27, 1929. Educator who played a major role in the establishment of the 6-level "Secondary School for Girls" in 1900 and designed curriculum of this school-type. As head of the secondary school of the Vienna "Frauen-Erwerb-Verein" (association of female workers) from 1900 to 1915, D. continued his efforts to expand education for girls.
