d. Linz (Upper Austria), Dec. 2, 1908. Bishop of Linz (1889), where he 
founded the Catholic Teachers' Seminary in 1891 and the "Petrinum" 
seminary for boys in 1895; also headed the extension of the New 
Cathedral and the "Pressevereinshaus" (press association building) in 
Linz. D. promoted the formation of Catholic organisations.
