Dorfgastein, province of Salzburg, municipality in the district of St. 
Johann, alt. 830 m, pop. 1,481, area 5,407 km%%sup 2/%, 
summer and winter tourism (218,731 overnight stays), situated in the 
lower Gastein Valley south of the Gasteiner Klamm gorge. - Festival 
hall, solar-heated open air swimming pools, show cave ("Entrische 
Kirche", now Protestant memorial), monocable railway to the Fulseck 
mountain (2,035 m); hotel and restaurant industry, Klammstein 
Fortress ruins, since 1973 partly revitalised. Early-Gothic parish 
church (first documented mention 1350), old farm buildings 
(18%%sup th/% -19%%sup th/%  century).
