d. Kitzbuehel (Tyrol), Oct. 18, 1944, photochemist, pioneer of 
photography; from 1892-1924 professor at the University of Technology 
in Vienna, founder and director (1888-1923) of the Institute of 
Photography and Reproduction Technology (now the Federal Institute for 
Graphic Arts) in Vienna. Carried out research on photometry and X-ray 
photography.
