b. Radkersburg (Styria), Aug. 25, 1850, 
d. Vienna, March 31, 1940, landscape painter, early education in Graz 
and Duesseldorf, from 1881 studied under E. J.  Schindler, from 
1888 travelled extensively (England, Italy, Greece, France, Holland, 
etc.); painted mostly landscapes and flowers, important representative 
of Austrian "atmospheric impressionism".
