!!!Eigen

Eigen; during the Middle Ages, Eigen (property) indicated manorial
property as opposed to tenancy. There were various kinds of Eigen,
e.g. Inwaerts Eigen (with limited right to sale) and free Eigen (not
subject to other persons´ jurisdiction). The lords of the manor
possessed Eigen churches, bishoprics owned Eigen monasteries.
Farmsteads belonging to Gemeinfreie (ceorls) were also called Eigen
(e.g. Raxendorf).
