d. St. Christophen (Lower Austria), Oct. 13, 1921, leather 
tanning chemist, pioneer of leather tanning in Austria; chemist at 
leather factories in Vienna and Prague, founded and headed the 
Chemical/Technical Institute for the Leather Industry in Vienna. 
Introduced scientific insights into leather treatment and pioneered 
the use of sodium sulfide.
