Stuttgart (Germany), June 17, 1940, surgeon, from 1904 professor at the University of Basel, from 1907 in Wuerzburg and Heidelberg; invented new surgical methods (including the modern cranial surgery technique, with G. Hotz) and paved the way for the resumption of blood transfusions. Honorary member of the Vienna Medical Society.
