!!!Förster, August b. Lauchstaedt (Germany), June 3, 1828, d. Semmering (Lower Austria), Dec. 22, 1889, actor, director, theatre manager. Under H. Laube entered on his career at the Vienna Burgtheater in 1858, where he worked as an actor and a stage director until 1876. From 1876-1882 head of the Leipzig Stadttheater, and participated in founding the Deutsches Theater in Berlin in 1883. On Nov. 1, 1887 he was appointed head of the Burgtheater and modernized its repertoire. A brilliant actor and teacher, translated numerous French plays into German. !Literature H. A. Lier, A.
