Fabricius, Paul, b. Lubań, Poland (then Lauban), 1529, 
d. Vienna, April 20, 1589, humanist, mathematician, astronomer, 
botanist, geographer, poet (in Latin), professor at the University of 
Vienna, physician in ordinary to the Emperor. On Aug. 22, 1574 he made 
the first ascent of  Oetscher mountain together with J. Aichholz and 
C.  Clusius to determine geographical positions. Drew maps of Austria 
(no longer extant) and of Moravia.
