d. New York (USA, suicide), May 4, 1950, physician, psychoanalyst; son 
of Joseph Salomon  Federn. Friend and pupil of S.  Freud; from 1831 
co-editor of the journal "Zeitschrift fuer Psychoanalytische 
Paedagogik"; emigrated in 1938 to New York, where he enjoyed high 
esteem for his scientific work.
