Flatter, Richard, b. Vienna, April 14, 1891, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 5, 1960, translator, author, trained lawyer. 
After training in stage direction with M. Reinhardt and attempts at 
writing his own poetry, turned to translating Shakespeare's sonnets 
and dramas. In 1938 emigrated to England, but was deported to 
Australia. He later lived in the USA and returned to Vienna in 1953.
