!!!Flugrettung Air Ambulance services are used in rescuing, administering first aid to and transporting accident victims (either in mountainous regions or in traffic) as well as the sick. Air rescue services are only possible in weather suitable for flying and with helicopters (landing, rescue by rope or by winch). The air rescue service in Austria was introduced by the Ministry of the Interior in 1954/1955; present-day organisations involved in air ambulance services are the OeAMTC motor club, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence (emergency helicopters with medical officers). The air rescue service can be called via all emergency telephone numbers (police, rural police, Austria Mountain Rescue Service, Red Cross) or via the nearest airbase. \\ Air rescue services are also used to fly sick or injured individuals back to Austria with emergency medical jets, operated by the Austrian Air Ambulance and Tyrolean Air Ambulance. The costs of air rescue services can be covered through travel insurance or health insurance. %%language [Back to the Austrian Version|AEIOU/Flugrettung|class='wikipage austrian'] %% [{FreezeArticle author='AEIOU' template='Lexikon_1995_englisch'}] [{ALLOW view All}][{ALLOW comment All}][{ALLOW edit FreezeAdmin}]
