d. near Oświecim, Poland (Auschwitz), Jan. 20, 1945, from 1901 
Austrian officer, fought on the Austrian side in World War I, 1920 
Austrian nationality, colonel, Field Marshal Lieutenant, until 1931 
Director-General in the Austrian civil service. In 1944 deported to 
the Oswiecim/Auschwitz concentration camp, where he was shot dead by 
the National Socialists when the camp was cleared.
