Friedrich, Archduke of Austria, b. Židlochovice, Czech Republic (then Gross-Seelowitz), June 4, 1856, 
d. Mosonmagyaróvár (Hungary), Dec. 30, 1936, Duke of 
Teschen; was his uncle's, i.e. Archduke  Albrecht´s, heir. Owned 
large areas of land, played a leading role in industry and in economic 
affairs and thus accumulated an enormous fortune. Enlarged the  
Albertina. Became general inspector of the troops in 1905, supreme 
commander of the imperial Landwehr, the army reserve, in 1907, Field 
Marshal in 1914 and supreme commander of the imperial troops from 
1914-1917. After World War I administered what remained of his 
estates.
