b. Kamenice, Czech Republic (then Kamnitz), Dec. 4, 1766, 
d. St. Poelten (Lower Austria), Oct. 11, 1834, theologian. 1804 
professor at the University of Vienna, 1810 court chaplain; as a 
theologian he stood at the borderline between Enlightenment and 
Josephinism on the one hand and restoration on the other. In 1816 
established the Hoehere Bildungsanstalt Augustin, a seminary for 
secular priests in Vienna ("Frintaneum"). Became Bishop of St. Poelten 
in 1827.
