!!!Fuchs, Ernst, geb. 1851

b. Kritzendorf (Lower Austria), June 14, 1851, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 21, 1930, important ophthalmologist. Established the 
pathological anatomy of the eye as a discipline; 1881-1885 Professor 
at Liège University; 1885-1915 head of the 2nd Department of 
Ophthalmology at the University of Vienna. Founded the medical weekly 
"Wiener klinische Wochenschrift" with H. v.  Bamberger in 1887. 
Studied in particular pathological tissue changes in the eye, started 
a collection of eye sections, introduced new surgical methods and 
established histology as a basis of diagnosis.
