Gaertner, Nikolas#
Gaertner, Nikolas, b. Dillingen (Germany), March 18, 1848, d. Rapallo (Italy), Feb. 26, 1913, metallurgist, industrialist. Developed G.'s tin coating technique with 4 rolls. In 1884 founded a metal-melting factory and refinery in Thalgau near Salzburg, where he produced "G.'s tin oxide". This factory was the largest factory of its kind in Europe. He promoted research into local history and supported the Alpine Club.
