Galli-Bibiena, Francesco, b. Bologna (Italy), Dec. 12, 1659, 
d. Bologna (Italy), Jan. 20, 1737, architect, brother of 
Ferdinando  Galli-Bibiena. Worked in various Italian cities, was 
called to Vienna by Emperor Leopold I and designed the Grosse 
Komoediensaal ("Grand Hall of Comedies") in 1700, which then became 
the Court Theatre. After a short time in Italy and in Lorraine, he was 
invited by Emperor Joseph I to return to the court of Vienna, where he 
worked as the "First Theatrical Engineer" and as a decorator and 
scene-painter from 1709. He returned to Italy for good in 1712.
