Gebler, Tobias Philipp Freiherr von#
b. Zeulenroda (Germany), Nov. 2, 1726, d. Vienna, Oct. 9, 1786, civil servant, dramatist and translator. Left the Dutch civil service for the Austrian civil service in 1752. Privy Councillor and Vice Chancellor of the Austro-Bohemian Court Chancellery. As an enlightened freemason G. was a supporter of reforms under Emperor Joseph II. Correspondence with F. Nicolai (publ. by R. M. Werner, 1888).
