b. Moravská Třebová, Czech Republic (then Maehrisch-Truebau) Jan. 29, 1820, 
d. Baden (Lower Austria), June 1, 1879, politician and lawyer. 
Spokesman of the Vienna "Sturmpetition" in the  Revolution of 1848; 
1848/1849 member of the Frankfurt National Assembly; from 1861 leader 
of the German Liberals (Deutschliberale) in the Austrian Parliament; 
in 1867 president of parliament; from 1867-1870 Minister of the 
Interior; brought about the separation of the executive and judicial 
powers.
