!!!Glück, Wolfgang

Glueck, Wolfgang, b. Vienna, Sept. 25, 1929, director of plays 
and films. Studied theatrical sciences and German in Vienna and 
Zurich; from 1949-1954 assistant director to B.  Viertel, F.  Kortner, 
J.  Gielen and O. F.  Schuh; worked as a director at many 
theatres including the Vienna Burgtheater, the Zurich Schauspielhaus 
and in Frankfurt am Main. First film in 1957, in 1981 breakthrough 
with the film version of Torberg's "Der Schueler Gerber"; his film "38 
- Heim ins Reich" (1985) was nominated for an Oscar. Professor of film 
directing at the University of Vienna since 1994 and head of the 
department of film and TV at the University of Music and Performing 
Arts in Vienna since 1997.
