Bell Beaker Culture, so named after wide-mouthed bellshaped beakers 
characteristic of this culture of the late  Neolithic Age , in Central 
Europe from about 2500 B.C. Other typical finds are bone and amber 
buttons, animal tooth pendants, copper daggers, flintstone arrowtips 
and stone armplates designed to protect the lower arm from 
arrow-string lashes. Little is known about the origins and spread of 
this culture, which is believed to have sprung up in southwestern 
Europe. Individual finds in Austria in the region from Salzburg to 
Burgenland.
