Gmeiner, Hermann, b. Alberschwende (Vorarlberg), June 23, 1919, 
d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), April 26, 1986, founded the first  
SOS-Kinderdorf in 1949. His life's work was the establishment of 
Kinderdorf homes for children all over the world.
