!!!Goldene Bulle

Golden Bull (Goldene Bulle), document promulgated in 1356 under the
reign of Karl IV. The name is derived from the golden capsule
containing the seal of the document, which lays down the principles
governing the election of the king and the performance of official
duties in the German Empire. The first 7 chapters deal with matters
concerning the 7 electors (primogeniture, privilegia de non evocanda,
mining and toll regalia, protection of Jews, the right of coinage and
the right to acquire land). Since Austria was not an electorate,
Rudolf IV forged the Privilegium maius (1359) which granted the
Habsburgs special rights.
