Goldscheider, Ludwig#
Goldscheider, Ludwig, b. Vienna, Aug. 3, 1896, d. London (United Kingdom), June 26, 1973, publisher, poet. Studied in Vienna and published a volume of poetry, "Die Wiese", in 1921. Co-founder of the Phaidon publishing house in Vienna, which from 1923-1938 was renowned for its reasonably priced art books. Emigrated to England in 1938, where he wrote numerous art history works and founded the Phaidon Press.
