d. Vienna, Sept. 8, 1969, electrical engineer, politician (Austrian 
People's Party, OeVP). 1938-1940 interned in a concentration camp, 
1945-1949 member of the Bundesrat, 1945-1956 Staatssekretaer in the 
Ministry of the Interior, 1949-1962 member of the Nationalrat, 
1956-1961 first Federal Minister of National Defence in the Second 
Republic.
