b. Vienna, Dec. 29, 1868, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 17, 1932, painter. Studied in Vienna and Paris, 
painted first in impressionist style, then used strong, expressive 
colours influenced by P. Cezanne. From 1901 member of the  Hagenbund 
(artists' association founded in 1900), president from 1909. 
Rediscovered only in the 1990s.
