Grimmenstein#

Grimmenstein, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Neunkirchen, alt. 405 m, pop. 1,384, area 14.75 km2, climatic health resort (92,868 overnight stays) in the Pitten Valley, at the foot of the Kulmriegel mountain (758 m), in the Bucklige Welt hill country. - Hochegg Lower Austrian provincial hospital and tuberculosis sanatorium (built in 1916), Hochegg convalescent home (of the salaried employees' pension insurance agency), old people's home for the blind; the sanatorium and the convalescent home are the main economic factors (social services). - Remains of a citadel and outer buildings of a castle from the 12th century, derelict since the 16th century.
