Hölzel, Adolf#

b. Olomouc, Czech Republic (then Olmuetz), May 13, 1853, d. Stuttgart (Germany), Oct. 17, 1934, painter. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the Munich Academy; 1891 founded the "Neu-Dachau" school of painting in Dachau. Developed muted impressionism into a two-dimensional and abstract style of painting.
