!!!Höfel, Blasius

b. Vienna, May 27, 1792, 
d. Aigen near Salzburg, Sept. 17, 1863, copper engraver and 
illustrator. Studied at the Vienna Academy, learned the art of 
miniature painting, from 1820 was drawing teacher at the Military 
Academy in Wiener Neustadt, where he established a school of 
xylography in 1834. Introduced metallography and became famous as an 
engraver of portraits.
