Halm, Friedrich ( real name: Baron Eligius Franz Joseph von Muench-Bellinghausen), b. Krakow, Poland (then Krakau), April 2, 1806, 
d. Vienna, May 22, 1871, dramatist, narrator, poet. In 1840 
member of the Lower Austrian Council of Government, in 1845 curator 
and from 1867 prefect of the Court Library. From 1861 member of the 
Upper Chamber of the Reichsrat, 1867-1870 artistic director of both 
Viennese Court Theatres. successful especially as a dramatist, 
although his dramatic works often appear artificial and imitative when 
compared to his entertaining realistic novellas.
