Hansch, Anton#
Hansch, Anton, b. Vienna, March 24, 1813, d. Salzburg, Dec. 8, 1876, landscape painter. Studied at the Vienna Academy under J. Moessmer, extensive travels through the alpine countries and art tours in the Salzkammergut region (often accompanied by his friend F. Gauermann). Moved to Salzburg in 1875. Painted mostly small-scale idealistic heroic alpine landscapes, became the most famous Austrian painter of the Alps during the second half of the 19th century.
