Hardegg, Adelsfamilie#
Hardegg, noble family, until 1383 directly subordinate to the Emperor, situated in the north of Lower Austria. Until 1260 the Counts of Plain, 1278-1483 the Counts of Maidburg, from 1495 the Barons (Counts) of Prueschenk (from 1500 also of Glatz and Machland) named themselves after Hardegg. The Hardegg family still lives in Seefeld and Stetteldorf. The most prominent members of the family included: Count Ferdinand of Hardegg, Count Johann Anton of Hardegg, Count Johann Heinrich of Hardegg and Count Julius of Hardegg.
