b. Innsbruck, Tirol, April 27, 1896, 
d. Innsbruck, Feb. 18, 1976, writer. Her works, which are greatly 
influenced by her religious beliefs and critical of modern 
civilisation, dwell on the conflict between urban and rural life and 
advocate the simple life in harmony with nature. Awarded the Austrian 
State Prize for Children's Books in 1961.
