Kollmitz#
Kollmitz Castle Ruin, Lower Austria, district of Waidhofen an der Thaya, municipality of Raabs, extensive estate surrounded by a meander of the River Thaya (fortified by the so-called Bohemian wall, 160 m long, around 1450). First documented mention in 1135, from 1293 feudal estate, between 1398-1620 property of the barons of Hofkirchen, in 1708 united with Raabs, since then uninhabited. Destroyed around 1800, conservation measures since 1974. Remains of the Gothic gatehouse, the medieval keep and the Early Baroque eastern section have been preserved. Near the ruins, mausoleum (1926-1929) of the Klinger family.
