Kraeutler, Erwin, b. Koblach (Vorarlberg), July 12, 1939,
Missionary bishop and bishop to the indigenous peoples of Altamira
(Brazil). Took holy orders and went to the River Xingu in Altamira in
1965, since 1981 bishop, 1983-1991 President of the Indian Missionary
Council of the Brazilian Bishops´ Conference; as an advocate of
the theology of liberation has received several death threats; 1983
arrested by the military police.
