Rosner, Karl#
Rosner, Karl, b. Vienna, Feb. 5, 1873, d. Berlin (Germany), May 6, 1951, narrative writer and poet. Son of Leopold Rosner; editor of the "Gartenlaube", then editor of the monthly publication "Der Greif" by Cotta Publishers; 1919-1934 manager of the Vienna branch of Cotta Publishers. While his early works ("Der Ruf des Lebens", 1902) were rooted in the fin de siècle, his popular historical novels after 1914 were marked by a certain German patriotism ("Der deutsche Traum", 1916; "Der Koenig", 1920). At the same time advocated tolerance, for which German-nationalist literary critics accused him of being a "trail-blazer of the Jews".
