b. Vienna, June 21, 1804, 
d. Vienna, July 18, 1875. Archaeologist, poet, narrative writer, 
dramatist. 1840 curator at the Coin and Antiques Gallery in Vienna, 
1856-1871 also responsible for the Treasury. Published scientific 
studies, literary contributions and reviews. 1828-1858 publisher of 
the paperback series "Aurora". Many of his poems were set to music by 
F.  Schubert and C. Loewe ("Die Uhr"); his poems in Lower Austrian 
dialect were also a great success. S. wrote the new text of the then 
Austrian anthem "Gott erhalte" (1854).
