b. Sankt Michael near Eppan/ San Michele near Appiano (South Tyrol), Dec. 29, 1909, 
d. Klosterneuburg (Lower Austria), Feb. 2, 1996, dermatologist. 
1959-1980 head of the University Department for Dermatoses and 
Venereal Diseases in Vienna, 1961-1980 university professor, more than 
200 scientific publications. His principal work, an atlas of 
dermatoses and venereal diseases (dubbed "The Tappeiner", 2 vols., 
1950/1953, with L. Arzt), forms part of standard medical literature.
