The Ahmanson Theatre [{GoogleMap location='34.058056,-118.247222' zoom='13'}] is one of the four main venues that comprise the Los Angeles Music Center and is owned and managed by Center Theatre Group. The theatre was built after a donation from Howard F. Ahmanson, Sr, but was named after his second wife, Caroline Leonetti Ahmanson. Construction began on March 9, 1962 and the theater opened on April 12, 1967. In the 1990s a $17 million renovation improved the acoustics, lowered the ceiling and made changes to the seating area, so that the seating area could be configured manually from 1,600 seats up to 2,084.
