El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles [{GoogleMap location='34.0568275,-118.2412337' zoom='13'}] was the Spanish civilian pueblo (an urban administrative division having corporate status and powers of self-government and jurisdiction) founded in 1781, which later became Los Angeles. The original settlement was the second pueblo created during the Spanish colonization of California and consisted of 44 people. Over time new settlers and soldiers arrived and made the town the urban center of southern Alta California.
